Skills with Room 10

Yesterday we had some fun relay races with room 10. We learnt some new skills and had lots of giggles!

Happy Birthday Aimee!

Thanks to Aimee's family for the yummy birthday muffins on Thursday to celebrate Aimee's 6th birthday. We loved them! 

Curiosity corner!

We have some great things to touch and ask questions about in the cave. There are magnifying glasses, shells, horns, jaw bones, magnets, cicadas...... Please bring things from home to share with us!

Super cakes!

We read a story called The King's Cake. We then had to design our own amazing cake and decorate them using pastels. 

This week we have finished typing up our cake descriptions in Google drive. 

They look good enough to eat!

Cooperation

This week we were lucky enough to receive some new puzzles for our class. One is a big floor puzzle. Lots of us were able to put this puzzle together using cooperation which is a skill we have been discussing and practicing lots in class lately. 

We really are such a cooperative group!

Merit Awards

Well done to Jahnaea and Reuben who both received merit awards at assembly today.

Jahnaea for the awesome memorising of her mihi. She says it so clearly and confidently.

And to Reuben for his super descriptive writing. He uses lots of adjectives and similes.

Our self-portraits

Wow, don't our self-portraits look amazing! They are up on the classroom wall now and definitely brighten up our class. The children put so much effort and time into these and the results are spectacular!!

Farewell Stella

Today we all made Stella a special card as it was her last day at Witherlea School. We all wished her the best for her new adventures at Riverlands.

We will miss Stella!

Chocolate Friday

Well done parents and whanau on remembering to send your child to school with chocolate for the gala. Look at what we collected. Ka pai Room 19!

#The fairest of them all performance

Today we had so much fun watching the performance. Giggling was to be heard from our hall far and wide!

Buddies

Today we met up with our big buddies from room 6. We don't know them very well yet so we wrote some interview questions at writing time to ask them. We found out lots of things about them by interviewing them.

We also showed them how well we can read by reading our books to them. We love having a big buddy!

Police visit

Today we had a visit with Constable Buck who taught us about staying safe crossing a road and when walking on the footpath. Ask your child what they must ask themselves before they cross a road and what they need to look for when walking on the footpath.

This is all very important information and if regularly talked about, and practiced, will help to keep your child safe.
