Edible gardens

On Friday we went out in the gardens again with Mrs Wentworth. We learnt about how the compost bin works and why we need compost. We then planted two bushes, a Blueberry and a Cranberry. We used a spade to dig a big hole for each plant. After we had planted them we put pea straw around them to keep them warm during winter.

We then went back into class and made beetroot dip. Lots of us had never tried beetroot before. Mr Hewson even came down to join us for a wee taste. It was delicious!!

Kapai Harry - for being player of the day for his team, the Blenheim Valley Panthers. He even scored 4 goals! Wow!

Garden fun

On Friday we all went out in the gardens. We learnt about why we need plants and what plants need to grow.
We planted some carrot seeds, broccoli plants and kale plants. Then we harvested some basil from the school garden to make basil pesto. It was delicious!
Making some healthy soil for our carrots to grow in.

Getting the seed trays ready.

Carrot seeds all ready to start growing.

Now all they need is a little water.
