ROOM 11 READERS

In Room 11 we have been learning to connect with what we are reading on a deeper level.
We read a book called A job for Dad.
This was a story about some children who wanted their Dad to change jobs.
Our task was to create a job poster to advertise a new job that Dad could apply for.
It needed to include.....

• A border
• A title
• A eye catching picture
• A sentence or two detailing what skills you may need for this job. 

After we had finished our posters we judged them in class.

Hockey

Today we had a great way to warm ourselves on a cold morning. Sarah from Marlborough Hockey came to school to teach us some hockey skills. We learnt lots. For some of us this was the first time we'd used a hockey stick. It was great fun!

Harry is 7!

Happy birthday to Harry, he turned 7 in the weekend. He brought in his amazing new tennis gear to show us. We hope you had a fantastic day Harry!

Hemione's Highland dancing!

Wow! Congratulations to our dancing star, Hemione who won two trophies and 5 medals in the weekend. Fantastic work, we are very proud of you!

Mihi

We are currently learning how to introduce our family and ourselves in Maori. This is called a mihi. Here we are practicing the first 3 lines in our mihi. Ask me if I can remember what we are learning? The first line is how to say hello to 3 or more people, the next line introduces our papa (or matua) and the third introduces our mama (or whaea).

Postcards from our holidays!

We looked at a postcard and talked about how people send them from a place when they go on holiday. We decided we would make our own postcards, to tell one of the teachers about our own holiday fun. Here we are delivering some of them! 

Training

This week we started cross country training. We aim to be lots fitter before our schools cross country event which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday 27th of June.
